Always be Innovative and Original<\/strong> \u2013 As printed material is often used as an identity for your company it should appear distinctive and attractive. Uniqueness is always solicited for printed publicity materials. It should be kept in mind that brochures could be designed depending upon its purpose. Sometimes they are used for brand building, while at other times they could be used to attract buyers. Depending upon its purpose, a POS (point of sales) material is planned and printed.<\/p>\n

Decide on Print Size<\/strong> \u2013 An essential aspect of any publicity material is its print size. This actually depends on the purpose of printed material concerned. There needs to be a perfect harmony of the total paper size and the area occupied by printed area. Leaving a margin on both sides gives a neat appearance to your handout. Alternately, allowing too much space for margins gives a minimalist appearance to the contents of your publicity material. Selecting the correct print area and font size are two important considerations for a professional brochure design<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Print Resolution<\/strong> \u2013 Print resolution is another key feature of POS materials. Without proper resolution images could get blurred, soft or dotted making your entire designing effort go in vain. This becomes even more prominent if there are images displayed in your printed matter. It is advisable to settle for a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) as this gives total sharpness to your output. Higher the resolution greater would be the clarity of your printed publicity material.<\/p>\n

Selecting the Correct Material<\/strong> \u2013 Material used is an important criterion in designing a brochure. Some handouts are meant to last for one or two days while some other publicity materials are supposed to last for few weeks. Print material used would depend on the period a POS is supposed to last. Normally paper between 80lb and 100lb is used for printing handouts, pamphlets and other publicity print outs. These last for a considerable number of days and do not lose their texture fast. Paper in both matt and gloss finish are used and each has its own advantages and drawbacks.<\/p>\n

Usually, colour rich materials appear glossy and should be printed on matt-finish paper. Publicity materials with more of contents and less images should ideally be printed on glossy surfaces.
